A hands-on workshop! An introduction to survival skills…and living in harmony with the Earth. Shelter, water, fire and food will be covered.
Shelter…Do you know how to build a shelter? Did you know a good shelter in a bad location is not a good shelter, and learning to build a proper shelter is a secret to lost proofing? Learn the intricacies of shelter building and give yourself the freedom to wander and not worry about getting lost.
Water…Do you know how to find and purify water? There are many ways to get water that’s drinkable; learn a number of systematic skills. Also learn how to find plants that can help you when there are no water sources available.
Fire…Do you know how to start a fire when it’s soaking wet out? Have you practiced? It’s one thing to get a fire going when it’s dry, but often weather and wood are not dry. Learn ways to start a fire during different weather.
Food…Do you know the poisonous plants that look like edible ones? We are surrounded by lots of free food; as we develop a relationship with plants and animals, we can learn how to be more comfortable with the important skills of plant identification and recognition. Also we’ll do an introduction to trapping.
Our classes are experiential and teach foundational skills for true sustainability; how to live with nature in a way that benefits us and our environment. This creates a natural balance in our lives. We will have time to explore, learn, play and gain new perspective for seeing the world in a changing time.
